Aki and his staff are awesome, and the food is ALWAYS...on point. I've never ever had a bad meal here.
They also let me practice my Japanese on them which is super kind of them. On top of this. I had friends from Australia come with me one night. We closed the restaurant and Aki invited us to his Karaoke bar next door. They treated us like old friends and were just amazing.
I will miss this place as we are moving in 5 days. The few haters on here can go to hell, they have no clue and probably eat sushi usually at Sushi Day or one of the other ghetto sushi holes in Gardena. This is TRUE Japanese sushi and the owner works EVERY DAY from morning to closing so you KNOW you are getting the very best.
I love this place...LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT. -

If you enjoy unusual rolls, flaming specials, and the like, read no further. This isn't the place for you.
This is the real deal. This is real sushi, prepared in the traditional way, and it makes no effort to appeal to gaijin tastes. That said, it's a lot more accomodating of gaijin now than they used to be. 25 years ago you needed to have a modicum of Japanese language skills to feel comfortable here. That's no longer the case, but you do need to respect the art and skill of the chefs. Let them be your guide and it helps to both respect and understand the traditions of sushi.
Order omakase and enjoy some of the best sushi (and best sushi value) in the US. -

Such a great place! The sushi was not only perfect but they are very generous with their quantity. Excellent quality, cute service, calm vibes. I will definitely be back here!

Had the Omakase B (chef's choice) sushi selection. It came with 16 pieces of sushi which included maguro (tuna), ikura (salmon roe), ika (squid), tako (octopus), ebi (shrimp), masago (smelt roe), unagi (fresh water eel), sake (salmon), hamachi (yellowtail tuna), toro (fatty tuna), and tamago (egg). The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the ambiance was accented with enka music (Japanese oldies). I was transported back to my childhood and the nostalgia was brimming. They even had tea cups with pictures of sushi that reminded me of my deceased grandparents (how I miss them). This is an old school sushi restaurant so don't expect all those crazy rolls, cream cheese, and non-traditional ingredients. They have a sushi bar and tables at this location.

The photos don't do them justice! For the second week in a row I've had a hankering for some salmon sashimi. And once again I've been pleasantly surprised, not sure why because all the yelpers had told me I had nothing to fear.
First things first, the service is excellent. At no time did I not feel helped. Any questions I had were politely answered and any time I needed anything it was quickly brought to me. The server was excellent! Also, the fine gentlemen who prepared my food were also very courteous.
I am definitely returning. The ingredients were fresh and well prepared. The staff was second to none and I felt very welcomed and comfortable. I can't wait to go back. Make sure you check this fine location out.
